Fitness Ladies

Dance Conditioning Class

An upbeat class that combines athleticism, teamwork, and dance. Students engage in a cardiovascular warm-up, dynamic stretching, partnered strength training and/or group activities, and dance technique. The primary technical skills we explore are jumps, kicks, turns, and balance. Our dance conditioning classes simultaneously dismantle individualism in dance and integrate social-emotional learning skills including relationship building, responsible decision-making, and self-awareness.

Objectives:​

  • To explore the intersection of dance and sport

  • To develop and maintain healthy relationships with peers through partner exercises

  • To understand and challenge their individual strengths and weaknesses through dance

  • To learn and scaffold introductory (to intermediate) dance skills

Academic Integration:​

  • Social-Emotional Learning

This class is open to the following:​

  • Grades 6-8

  • Grades 9-12

  • Higher Education/Adults

Dance Conditioning Intensive 

5 day series of classes and coaching for professional dancers. Each class is a combination of strength training and dance technique. This intensive is designed to improve your performance and provide tools to prevent future injury.  

Objectives:

  • To explore the intersection of dance and sport

  • To learn safe and functional strength training exercises for dancers 

  • To identify and assess primary areas of inconsistency in dance technique

  • To utilize and improve on individual strengths and weaknesses

  • Create a personalized training regimen to utilize beyond the training intensive

Curriculum:​

  • Dissection of Harmful Competitive Practices

  • Injury Prevention & Tactics for Career Longevity

  • Health and Physical Education

  • Dismantling Individualism via Teamwork
